Call of Duty: Warzone 2 FOV Slider Can Give Players
A new video shows how the FOV slider present in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 can give some users an unfair advantage during matches.
The FOV slider present in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 can give some players an unfair advantage. FOV sliders have become pretty common in first-person shooters on consoles in the last few years, with many popular franchises adding them to the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of games. As an example, FPS titles like Borderlands 3, Destiny 2, Rainbow Six Siege, and Apex Legends all feature an FOV slider.
The same is true for the recently released Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2, with both titles allowing users to change the FOV to their preference. However, an FOV slider was missing from the original console versions of Warzone, as Activision didn’t add this feature due to its impact on the game’s performance on the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Still, it was added to Warzone 2, and it seemed like users responded positively to this change, despite it possibly giving some gamers an unfair advantage.

As reported by CharlieIntel, a Call of Duty: Warzone 2 pro player named Lucky Chamu shows how an FOV slider can give some players an advantage during matches. While many users will probably increase the FOV to a number they are comfortable playing at, Lucky Chamu decided to lower it to 60 in the middle of a match. As showcased in the video, the player was having a difficult time aiming at far-off targets with the FOV set to 120 in a match of Warzone 2. Lucky Chamu then lowered it to 60, allowing for a much better view of the opponent, thereby making them easier to hit.
The user ended up killing several targets from rooftops, showing how this strategy could be broken when used effectively in Call of Duty: Warzone 2. Fans should note lowering the FOV to 60 significantly limits how much they can see of the world around them, leaving them open to foes from different directions.
Some Call of Duty fans seemed pleased with Activision adding an FOV slider to Warzone 2, but it looks like this feature may have its disadvantageous. Perhaps Activision can change the minimum and maximum values available to users once a match has started, thereby preventing some gamers from radically changing the field of view to gain an advantage in a particular scenario. Despite the Call of Duty pro making great use of the FOV slider, it still seems like a net positive for FPS games on consoles, so this feature is unlikely to be removed in a future update.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
