  • Nintendo Gamer Shows Off Incredible BMO Adventure Time Switch Stand That Talks

A fan of Adventure Time shows a stand for their Nintendo Switch that makes the handheld look like fan-favorite character BMO.

A Nintendo Switch owner shows their console displayed in a stand that makes it look and sound like BMO from Adventure Time. The Switch has been a popular device for those who like to make custom accessories for their consoles.

Adventure Time is an animated series that ran on Cartoon Network from 2010 to 2018. It was and still is hugely popular, and critics and fans widely regard it as one of the best cartoons of the 2010s. One of the most popular characters from the show is BMO, a living video game console that lives with series protagonists Finn and Jake. They are designed in the style of the Nintendo Game Boy and was often the subject of episodes that center around video games. BMO’s adorable design and retro gaming aesthetic made them especially prevalent in Adventure Time merchandise.

BMO’s design also made them particularly popular with gamers, especially those with a love for retro handheld consoles. An especially clever gaming accessory styled after BMO is a Nintendo Switch stand that makes the console’s screen look like BMO’s face. A user on Reddit showed their Switch in one of these stands with the screen showing a talking BMO face. Unlike custom Switch docks, this stand only holds the console up without transmitting to a TV as a dock would.

Despite ending over four years ago, Adventure Time remains popular with cartoon fans, partly thanks to a number of specials that have been released on the streaming service HBO Max. The show’s characters continue to be some of the most recognizable characters in modern animation. Some have even made appearances in other media, such as the inclusion of Finn in MultiVersus, one of the biggest fighting games of 2022.

Special-edition consoles have existed for decades, but custom-designed systems have helped to fill a demand in the console market for specially-themed hardware. The Nintendo Switch is a good example of this as accessories like custom Joy-Cons have gained traction online as they are often themed after franchises that are not represented in official special-edition Switches. This shows that Nintendo is leaving money on the table by not releasing more special-edition consoles and accessories. Some particularly popular Switch games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet got their own special-edition Switches, and with games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom being highly anticipated, Nintendo could do more to capitalize on the market for special-edition hardware.
