Wild Hearts: Ripclaw Boss Fight Guide

The Ripclaw is a subspecies variant of the Dreadclaw in Wild Hearts. This rooster-like Kemono uses very similar attacks to its parent species, dashing through the air and lunging with its claws to keep you boxed in. However, the major difference between the Ripclaw and Dreadclaw is the former’s ability to use the Fatigue ailment.

  • Physical Effectiveness – Slash

The Ripclaw is a Wind attribute Kemono that is weakest on its head and throat. Although these are its two weakest body parts, the rest of the Ripclaw is relatively soft as well, with its wings, body, and tail taking almost as much damage as its head and throat. Wood, Fire, and Earth weapons deal the most damage to the Ripclaw, and the Ablaze ailment works especially well.

Alternatively, the Ripclaw takes very little damage from the Wind and Water attributes, and Fatigue and Poison have almost no effect.

Best Equipment To Fight Ripclaw

The Veteran armor set is a good choice for this fight, thanks to its high Wind resistance, overall decent defense, and the Fatigue Resilience skill on the pants and legs. However, if you find yourself taking too much damage from the Ripclaw’s attacks, you may want to swap in armor pieces with higher defense, like the Red Plum set. Additionally, the Cut-Throat set, which is essentially the upgraded version of the Veteran set, is an even better choice.

Later on in the fight, the Ripclaw will often fly into the air, keeping itself out of reach of your melee attacks. We recommend bringing the Torch Karakuri so you can create the Fireworks Fusion Karakuri, which you should have awoken to during the Dreadclaw fight. When the Ripclaw flies into the air, conjure a Firework to knock it down and stun it for a few seconds, enabling you to attack freely.

Ripclaw – Fight Breakdown And Moves

The Ripclaw uses many of the same attacks as the Dreadclaw, but with the added danger of the Fatigue ailment. If you’re comfortable fighting the Dreadclaw, this fight should only be a bit more challenging than that.

Just like the Dreadclaw, the Ripclaw will perform a claw dive attack in which it jumps into the air slightly before diving toward you with its claws bared. This attack may be repeated a second time if you are within range, but the Ripclaw will topple to the ground if you are able to dodge the second dive. This is the perfect time to attack the Kemono.

The Ripclaw’s shockwave scream and triple peck are also the same as the Dreadclaw’s. These attacks can be dangerous, but leave a small window to counterattack on the sides or back of the Kemono if you are able to dodge them.

New to the Ripclaw are its sleep cloud eggs. Periodically, the Ripclaw will either shake its body, releasing eggs that explode in clouds of Fatigue-inducing smoke, or violently swing its tail, releasing a wave of eggs on the second swipe. In either case, be very careful to move out of the way of the light blue smoke clouds, as staying in them for too long will inflict Fatigue, putting you to sleep for a few seconds or until you are hit with an attack.

Similarly, the Ripclaw’s body slam attack will have it rise into the air for a moment, hover toward you, then slam down, releasing a few sleep eggs. The Ripclaw will need a moment to recover after this attack, so press the assault while you can, after dodging the initial attack.

After the Ripclaw has taken enough damage, it will enter its enrage state, creating a massive tree to deal damage in the area while its small wings grow in size. While enraged, the Ripclaw’s Fatigue attacks will be empowered, and it will frequently fly into the air to attack or avoid you.

While flying, the Ripclaw may fire rocks at you in waves, although these don’t explode in sleep clouds. Additionally, the Ripclaw will swing its head forward, dealing high damage and knocking you back. Avoid standing directly in front of the Kemono while it’s flying.

By utilizing the Fireworks Fusion Karakuri, you can knock the Ripclaw out of the air and create a large window of vulnerability.

While enraged, the Ripclaw’s claw dive attack may be used three times in a row. After dodging the first two dives, prepare for a third one, and get ready to counterattack when the Kemono falls over.
