World Of Warcraft: Dragonflight – How To Get The Rare Snowy Owl Battle Pet
Make sure you get the rare, time-gated Snowy Owl battle pet in WoW: Dragonflight before it’s gone for another year.
If you’re a World of Warcraft completionist and are looking to add another battle pet to your collection, you may have missed the Snowy Owl. There’s a valid reason for this, as this avian is only available at certain times of the year.

As you can tell by the name, finding the Snowy Owl happens only in winter. Generally, you’ll have until the end of the season to acquire it. Usually, this will be around late February or early March, but as there’s no official end date communicated, better to get it now!
Quite predictably, the Snowy Owl is found in a zone that lends its name well to the theme: Winterspring, located in northeast Kalimdor.

If you’re Alliance, the easiest way to get there is to portal to Darnassus from Stormwind — the portal is at the end of the leftmost dock in Stormwind Harbour — then fly across the sea to the southeast. Conversely, Horde players can fly directly north from Orgrimmar, with Winterspring just on the other side of Azshara.
Once there, just fly or ride around the zone, keeping an eye out for the Snowy Owl — it can be found all over. A good tactic is to create the following macro that you can spam while travelling.
This will automatically lock on to the Snowy Owl when it’s in the vicinity, usually within around 90 yards. Alternatively, just click on the binoculars next to your minimap and select Track Pets to see all battle pets in the area.
As with any battle pet, you’ll need to reduce the Owl’s health to below 35 percent in a pet battle in order to attempt to catch it. This can fail several times, so make sure your pets are healed up first to weather the storm!
Snowy Owl Battle Pet Abilities
The Snowy Owl can be anything above level 15 when caught, so you’ll need to raise its level through pet battling to level 20 to make sure all its abilities are unlocked for use.
When done, these are the moves you’ll have to choose from and the Owl’s stats at max level. Each row represents a choice of move — for example, either Peck or Quills.

Overall the Snowy Owl is a rather one-dimensional pet, limited to mostly Flying-type attacks. This makes it very good against Aquatic battle pets but is weak against the rather strong Dragonkin type. It can hit hard, and thanks to its passive, quickly — but ultimately, it’s a pet for a curated team rather than one that can cover many bases.
